Donna Dennison is the Sheriff of Knox County, having won the election in 2006.  Sheriff Dennison grew up in the midcoast area and has strong ties to the community.  Sheriff Dennison lives on a small farm where she enjoys her horses and dogs.  She is not a stranger to getting by with little and with that understanding she manages all aspects of Patrol and Corrections, including providing law enforcement to the islands in Knox County.  Sheriff Dennison is a firm believer that working with the public and treating people with respect has the greatest of benefits. Sheriff Dennison spent 7 years as Detective after working her way up through the various ranks of Corrections Officer, Dispatcher, Patrol Deputy, and Supervisor.  She understands the role everyone plays and how to best accomplish goals due to her work experience in each position.  Sheriff Dennison has taught "DARE" to 5^th and 6^th graders in local schools to instill the importance of drug use prevention to our children.  Sheriff Dennison is a strong believer in the fight against illegal drugs; supporting coordinated efforts between agencies and the public to extinguish this serious threat to society.  Sheriff Dennison's experience has taught her the importance of Community Policing and the important role the public plays in solving crimes.
