A list of stolen property will soon be available. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity by calling the Detective division at 594-0429 X 706. It will help us to help you if you take a few precautions. Many times we get reports of stolen items only to learn the serial numbers are not available to us. A serial number can be as simple as scratching your unique number on your property. This enables us to identify your property and return it to you. With enough information we will enter your stolen property in NCIC. This will enable a hit if anyone queries it on their law enforcement computer system through out the United States. Be sure to document your valuables. Pictures, serial numbers, cost, and date of purchase should be put in a safe place. Neighbors watching neighbor's homes is useful when not at home. Make arraignments to have your mail kept at the Post Office. Paper delivery should be suspended or have someone pick it up. Put lights on a timer. Thieves know what to look for when a home is empty. Keep your doors locked. Check your windows both downstairs and up. Make sure they are locked. Pet doors should be secured if there are no pets staying at home while you are away. Do not leave your keys hidden outside the door. If possible have someone come in and check your home. Take cash and valuables to the bank for safe keeping. Respectfully. Sheriff Dennison
