We welcome input from our citizens and encourage you to get involved. As many of you are well aware we have a serious drug problem in the midcoast. This affects all of us and contributes to numerous crimes including but not limited to Drug trafficking, robberies, burglaries, domestic assaults, child abuse, sex offenses, thefts and deaths.  It is a very difficult situation when we have to knock on someone's door to tell them a loved one has died. 

Currently in this area we are seeing a lot of prescription medication being sold on the street which seems to be readily available. Addiction is a huge problem. There are not enough facilities available to help those really wanting help. There is usually a waiting list to get in.

Drug abuse can start at a very young age. Peer pressure is a huge factor with young people. Parents you need to know where your children are and whom they are with. Check on them once in a while to make sure they are where they are supposed to be. Put prescription medication up. Dispose of old medication. They may be angry at you now but will thank you later for caring so much.
